At no point in life can you be perfect at anything, but you can prepare yourself for the adventures of life. One of life’s biggest challenges is marriage. Marriage requires preparation emotionally and spiritually. Marriage is considered to be one of the hardest aspects of life to control. Merging two different customary lifestyles into one can be difficult especially since the feelings of both are involved. I have learned both the numerous ways to destroy and build a successful marriage. Marriage is the union of man and woman becoming as one flesh according to God’s law and the law of the land.

I’m not saying that they had the perfect marriage; but my father did teach me to work hard at what you do and be the man of your household. He taught me that you are the breadwinner of your house and your family is your responsibility. As a child, I did witness some unpleasant memories between my mother and father in the form of arguments which sometimes turned physical. The way I viewed that was I would never want to put my hands on my wife, even when provoked.
My mother was the person that made sure we attended Church regularly and establish a relationship with God every since I can remember. She was truly the matriarch of the family. She instilled in us at a very young age how important it was to give time on Sundays to your Church in the form of worship.
The woman I married was from my hometown, although we went to different high schools, we never dated back then although I was very attracted to her. After graduating from high school in 1980, I left Mississippi and moved to Michigan and lived there for about a year before I joined the military in 1981. When I went on vacation to Mississippi in 1985, I ran across the woman whom I had a crush on from my high school days. She had married and had a baby girl, but she was separated from her husband at the time due to some infidelities on his part. I was happy to see her again and when I left for my military
Marriage is a selfless act. Marriage is a sign of unity and loyalty which all should uphold and honor. It enriches society and strengthens community. It is giving oneself to another and becoming one together. There is a common good when it comes to marriage that helps builds and promotes families and raising children. This allows society to communicate to the American public on certain issues. Marriage has been in debates of welfare, poverty, divorce, race, gender, sexuality, and gay rights. Government has become involved in promoting efforts for premarital courses, high school courses. This all points to the marriage movement the government pushed in the 90’s (Skolnick pg.518). There are lots a benefits to marriage for women, men, children, and the society as well.
For kids they are less likely to be abused and neglected and they also receive higher grades as well as higher college aspirations. These children are less likely to drop out in two parent homes then with one parent homes. This research shows though that marriage does encourage children to do more in every level. As for women this shows their health excellent in cases of marriage too the other women in non-married women ranking lower. Abuse cases have been decreasing at a faster rate then of women that are not married. And for men the benefits in marriage are they join more community services and organizations. Their financial gains are greater as married men then non-married and mortality rates are better as their quality of life has become greater with being married (Stantorum pg.571).
I believe that marriage is promotes good not saying that not being married doesn’t. I just believe in finding that partner that makes you a team and becoming one and joining your two qualities together and starting a family with or without children. I think we as people and the government needs to promote marriage as much as we can to generate more positive things amongst the people. I’m getting...
